Sunrise

Six months, one day ago
I traveled in twilight
Through a bleak abyss
Mutely wondering through time
With no end in sight
I drifted to sleep with demons

As I slept
Life went on
Shadowed in moonlight
That shone through tint of blood
That covered my hands
Drenched in torments I slept

Upon start of daybreak I awoke
To stare outside despairingly
Desolate land covered in obscurity
Was all that greeted me?
On this ordinary day

Minutes passed until night fell again
No different than day
Were the views?
Darkness upon shade
Shadows grew

Six months ago
I saw the sunrise for the first time
In many moons
Strangely it was not as remembered
It began in dead of night
Shining like none before

A brief spark that came with a simple "hello"
This all to brief minuscule of radiance
That entranced my mind
Causing my caution to ebb
I approached with my own gloom
Coating me, seeking to extinguish this invader

A duel began
Like none I have experienced before
We fought with words
That turned to dance
As we sung our own tune
To win would be the last standing
With breath left to chant
Of midnight meeting under the moon
With light of day leading the way

That night passed slowly
As words began to form
Puzzle pieces began to click
Two souls meeting
After long apart

Six months ago today
I saw the sunrise
On a moon lit night
