* * *

Walls crumbling down
On foundations strongly built
That were meant to hold
Test of time
Constructed of hurt
That wished to remain
Sorrow that became
A way of life

Reaching heavens
To find the one whom left
Who started me on this path
Of encompassing misery

Brick by brick
Placed with each passing breath
Deceit holding together
Enclosure being created
Lost child who had no clue
Of what was being formed
That would soon spiral
Beyond control

Though I tried
To overcome
This path of sorrow
All that filled was hollow

Happiness turned to gloom
Smiles disappeared
To be replaced by artificial ones
Where once bright child stood
Now turned to teen
Who led a play?
With herself as the star
Performance of a lifetime

Nothing else mattered
Nothing else comes to mind
You left
While I was left holding the key
To a heart that has forgotten how to love
